How to Make a Bag for your Laptop

A year ago I got  a little computer for my birthday.

Only when I travel I remember I have no travel bag to protect it and I am forced to carry it in the protection plastic bag it came in. I know, it is not very stylish but you only remember some things right in the moment you need them.

After looking around for a bag in many different shops , I decided that the prices were too ridiculous to buy anything and I promised myself to sew one.

Ok, it has been a while since that promise, I’ve been procrastinating a little bit,  but today I finally found in my fabrics box something that inspired me enough to start making my own computer cover.

Actually there are two fabrics I’m going to use.

The first one was a piece of red leather. I bought it a while ago on  sale with the hope of making a handbag but it never happened.

I will use for the exterior.

As a lining I will use a cute little piece of fabric with small flowers.

As you can see, my computer cover design was very simple. I didn’t want to use any zipper or anything similar to close it. The idea was to make a bag twice the size of the computer and once the computer is inside I’ll just fold the bag.

I measured the wide and length of the computer and I added around 2 cm in each side (just to make sure I can put computer in and out the  without any problem). You can add a bit less or a bit more depending the thickness of your fabric.

The steps were very simple. First, sewing each in 3 sides, I created 2 separate bags  (one with the leather, the other one with the lining).

Afterwards I put inside out the lining bag and I inserted it inside the leather one.

I folded the edges (inside for the leather bag, outside for the lining bag) and sew the hems together to create the bag’s unique hem.

And this is the result, a very simple but classy bag for your laptop. If you want to customize it, you can add some decoration or even hangers.
